all hamsters go to heaven

my sweet little hamster died this afternoon. the past few days she has been really sick and i was trying to get her healthy again but it just kept getting worse and worse. her little eyes were so crusty that they wouldn't even open and she wasn't eating or drinking anything. i looked online and it told me to feed her vitamin c and parsley since they both have lots of nutrients and it should make her better but i couldn't get her to take a bite of either. this morning i took her to the vet and he told me she wasn't looking good at all but there was a chance she could pull through. he gave me a syringe of sugar syrup to force down her mouth in hopes that it would help her blood sugar level go up enough to give her enough strength to eat and drink something. she was also super chilled so he gave me a heat pack to keep her on and some eye drops to heal her eye infection. i held her all day long and she seemed like she was moving a little more and when i had to go teach math i went to put her away and she was gone :( my poor little baby. i just loved this little rodent so much, she had the sweetest little personality. i loved giving her toilet paper and watching her stuff her cheek so full it looked like it was going to tear open. i loved waking her up and seeing the sleepiest little eyes staring back at me followed by the most insane looking hamster yawn. she never had a problem with me holding her, i think she actually liked to cuddle my hand. she had a little gimpy foot and a big furry butt but it only made her cuter then any other normal hamster. i wish i could have had you for longer beyonce. i know i'll never meet another hamster quite like you :) say hi to scooter in hamster heaven my little angel.

last night we caught the culprits who have been power boxing us constantly the last month. it felt good to out run the stupid boys and make them feel like idiots. my lungs now feel like i have been a chain smoker my whole life cause of the stupid air quality but it was worth it. lets just say i dont think my house will be getting power boxed anymore. hooray for the HACK house!

ALOHA

i recently returned from a wonderful trip to the big island, hawaii! i went with my friend mercedes and her sister's family. shokey met up with us halfway through the trip so all three of us got to spend a few days together. they rented an enormous beach house and we had the luxery of staying with them in it. there was a guest house attached to the garage that mercedes and i got so we had our own little house. it was perfect!! we were there from december 20th to december 28th 2010. i was so lucky to have been invited on this amazing trip! i was also very excited to get to visit a different island because i have only ever been to oahu 3 different times. i had such a blast i am sad we had to come home.

every day we would eat out at a different restaurant for lunch. the first day we went to bubba gump, which was super delicious.

one of the days we rented scooters for 4 hours and drove along the beach. this was my favorite day by far. i absolutely loved the feeling of the warm wind blowing in my hair and looking over and seeing the beautiful beaches.

we were trying to take pictures using the self timer on the camera, and as i was running to get into the picture i slipped on the moss and the camera caught me right at the moment when i was falling. it was hilarious, but it kinda hurt!





every single day we were in hawaii it was super sunny until about 4:30 and then it would start pouring. so one night we decided to play in the rain, we were soaked within minutes.





i loved to catch the little geckos that we found everywhere around the house. they were too cute





mele kalikimaka! we spent our christmas day on the beach in the sunshine. we had ourselves a fake white christmas! "i'm dreaming of a white sand christmas"
we actually got to see a whale off in the distance this day. it was pretty cool.

we stopped by a black sand beach on one of our long drives. it was the coolest sight to see since i have only ever seen a white sand beach.

we got to visit the volcano in hawaii. it was sort of a let down but it was neat to see all the dried up lava rock that took up so much of the island.

thankful for thanksgiving

thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday. i love getting together with some of the family, and stuffing your bellies full of turkey and pie. this year i went to my grandma and grandpa johnsons for the holiday and it was such a fun time to hang out with some of the uncles and aunts and cousins. we ate tons and tons of food and played phase ten for hours. (which i happened to win!!) and then at midnight i met up with shan and we went to black friday at south town mall. i am still trying to decide if it was worth it, even though i got some awesome deals. the lines were just killer. we got home about six in the morning. next year we aren't going to go right at midnight, the lines are too long until about four in the morning. but it was fun to spend time with shan and buy a few gifts for friends and for myself :) but this thanksgiving i was thinking about what i am grateful for and here is some of the things i came up with...
*my wonderful family
*my friends who are always there for me when i need a shoulder to cry on or someone to laugh with
*power (our power went out for about 18 hours right before the dreaded blizzard, and our house was FREEZING!!)
*the gospel
*my job
*the education i am receiving
*the miracle of forgiveness :)

i know there are many many things i am leaving out of that far too short list, but i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!

blowout

yesterday was the blackout game, tcu against utah. i expected it to be a very intense game and so did everyone else in the country. this game was chosen for gameday by espn. i was sooo stoked to go and cheer my utes on. well all my hope went down the drain in about ten minutes when tcu scored 3 touchdowns in the first quarter and utah didn't even come close to scoring. the game ended 47 to 7.. it was sad. the team played so horribly yesterday i dont think they came ready to play against a top ranked team... it was the first time i witnessed the utes lose at home! but oh well.. there is a first for everything. hope the next 3 games go alot better then yesterdays did! GO UTES!

BOO!

i must say i probably had the best halloween of my life this year. my roomies and i celebrated it 2 weekends and it was great! the first weekend there was a crimson nights at the U so we got all ready and went to that together. i needed to go to blue boutique to find some fake eye lashes for our costume party the next night so alex tagged along with me. there we found some awesome non-prescription colored contacts and together we decided that these would be awesome to wear tonight at crimson. so alex bought 4 pairs; one for each of us.
it only took me an hour and a half to get the dang things in my eyes... but once i did i looked SOO creepy. and i loved it



the next night alex got us all tickets to go to a westminster dance party. it was a costume party so we all got real dressed up and went and danced the night away. it was a blast! i cant remember the last time i danced and danced and never stopped until the night ended. there were so many fabulous costumes to look and laugh at and i must say my roomies and i did a good job of dressing up as well. kd, calli, and alli were chip n dale dancers. alex was a cat/mouse..? and i was lady gaga!




the next weekend on friday night we went on a big group date. we went to a haunted corn maze. definitely not very scary but still entertaining..
and lastly HALLOWEEN EVE! since halloween was on a sunday this year all the parties were on saturday. not one of us had a costume planned out until last minute. we rushed around trying to find different costumes at different stores and alex finally says lets go to my parents and look! so we did, and thats where we had the most success. after we were back we got ready and stayed home while we got lots of cute, little trick or treaters. that night we stopped by sigma chi, then went to a party at some loft downtown for about 5 minutes. we then went to our friends house and stayed there for the majority of our night. it was good to see lots of old friends that i hadn't seen in a while. and just a lot of fun.
for this night, calli was a swan, i was a vampire, alex was a little girl, alli was a pirate, and kd was a bird. i wore my red contacts, but in these pictures they look black since alex has such a nice camera it automatically takes out red eye. so next time i wear these contacts i know not to take pictures with alex's camera haha
