what not to do
and you buy a bunch of stuff to cook dinner and make breakfast
collect a bunch of wood and buy a lighter to make a fire
and dont forget those marshmallows that you really want to roast!
you drive up to the campsites and are so excited to spend the evening in the forest with your closest friends and set up that new tent you have been dying to sleep in
and ALL THE CAMPSITES ARE FULL?!!?
even the ones in other canyons, and so you frantically search for somewhere to stay because ALL you have been dreaming of all day is camping
so you try and try to come up with ideas on what to do...
i can tell you what NOT to do.
DO NOT go to lagoon campsite!
it is a huge let down.
we called them, asked if they had any campsites and they said SURE come on up. so we drove all the way to farmington
paid WAY too much to stay the night on some grass
realized they do not have fire pits OR barbeques so we couldn't cook our dinner that we prepared OR roast those yummy little marshmallows
and it was right next to the freeway, so all through the night i was woken up by way to many semi's.
i can honestly say the first camping trip of the season had a lot of potential, but it ended up being an epic fail.
not saying i didn't have fun with everyone i was with, but everything went wrong.
i hope that the rest of the camping trips i have this summer end up better then this one.

its what fun is
My sister and I went to lagoon a couple days ago. I don't think we could have gone on a better day! It was very hot, which meant the wet rides quickly became our favorite, and the lines weren't ever very long! We like to get there right when it opens because we can go on a few rides without having to wait in line AT ALL! Throughout the day it gets busier and busier but right at the first its perfect.
We went on a few rides real quick and then we decided before we got all wet to go get those fun pioneer pictures done. Getting dressed up and taking pictures is one of my favorite things – so these pioneer pictures always make for a fun lagoon day.
After that we kept going and going on rides til we were starving!
I swear every time I go to lagoon, I ALWAYS eat at the arbys they have there. Overpriced, and not as good as a regular arbys, but still enjoyable.
We wanted to let our food settle so we went on the little train that goes through the zoo. There was a turtle swimming in the lake! It was super cute, there was a variety of large cats, large birds, deer, kangaroos, and camels. There was also a sign that read "second largest zoo in Utah!" ha how exciting J
We then went to lagoon a beach, the water park in lagoon. There are not very many slides but my favorite part is always the lazy river. Just laying on your tube going around in circles is so relaxing, and you get tan while doing it! ;)
We went on a lot more rides, went into a few of the gift shops and found a baby bottle (for shan's new little boy that was born this day) ate some corn on the cob, got a free drink, ate ice cream, went back to lagoon a beach because we were so hot, played a game, and had a blast.
I really enjoy going to lagoon, especially with my sister because she is always thinking the same thing as me. now our next fun filled thing is going to be camping, and hopefully Disneyland in the near future!
Here we are on the haunted terror ride. Pretty scary!
At Lagoon a Beach in our rompers!
My sweet free cup!

baby tyson
i have known shan for almost 4 years, we work together at cartridge world and she is simply wonderful. i can tell her my deepest secrets because i know i can trust her. she is so great to talk to as well, she always has the right things to say. - and she is honestly one of the most genuine and amazing people i know. she is always looking out for other people, making sure they are happy and making sure they know she is thinking about them or that she loves them.
she has been trying to get pregnant for years and after all the trying and the fertility treatments, no baby showed up on her doorstep. she gave away ALL the maternity clothes she had been given, and anything "baby" that were passed down from her sisters. and then it happened! she went to the doctor for some minor little thing, and they told her "well we would like to give you a stronger prescription but it is not safe for pregnant people"
she had NO idea but she had been pregnant for close to 11 weeks!
and today that little baby came :) he was a five weeks early but he seems to be doing well. he is so lucky to have such a wonderful mother - and he better know that his auntie hay hay is going to spoil him and love him so much!! i went to visit him and shan at the hospital tonight but i didn't really get to see him since he is so tiny.
i am so happy for shan and trent and this little miracle that came today!

all dogs go to heaven
my grandma and grandpa had just gone out of town for a few days to visit my uncle, and they put their dog, pennie in a kennel while they were gone since no one else lives at their house. pennie got super stressed when they were not there with her, and passed away :(
my grandparents got pennie almost ten years ago right after my puppy died. pennie was the perfect dog for my grandparents. she was always so loving and sweet and very calm when she wanted to be.
about 5 years ago, pennie actually got hit by a car and dragged underneath for 15 feet. it broke both her hips but she was tough and she survived. she was in such good shape too, she was getting white hairs around her face but she didn't seem like she was an old dog at all. i guess she just got scared being away from her owners.
i absolutely loved pennie. she was huge and cuddly and always held my hand. i cant imagine going to visit my grandparents and her not being there :( it breaks my heart that she is gone. and it hurts even more knowing how sad my grandparents are. they loved that dog so much. the only thing that helps me feel somewhat better, is that all dogs go to heaven.
pennie, make sure you go find candie and tell her i love her. i'll miss you a lot :( you were the best dog my grandparents could have gotten.
logan to park city
12 crazy people
2 vans
and a whole lot of sweating, smelling, cheering, following, baby wipe showers, honey buckets, stopping, going, trying to sleep, failing at sleeping, being super tired, laughing, yelling, decorating the car, keeping track of who you killed, getting sad when you get killed, reading the ragmag, and MUCH MUCH MORE!
i just finished the 2011 wasatch back ragnar. it was definitely very rough but also so so much fun. we ran from the utah state university to a high school in park city. our team was called team ventus. we bought a team from ksl and that was the team name, ragnar would not allow us to change it so we worked with it. we made it into an acronym and this is what we came up with
Very
Excruciating
Nightmare;
To
Us
Sanity
it kinda doesn't make sense but that was the funniest and best i could come up with!
some of the people on our team have a super fast pace, and so we had the latest possible start time. it was not something i was very excited about because it made it seem like we were always in last place. even though we finished it a lot faster then a lot of teams, it felt like we didnt. we started at 2:30 in the afternoon while most teams were starting earlier then 10 in the morning. i kept getting texts from my friends on other teams saying they were done with their certain legs when we hadn't even started running.
but other then that the ragnar was so much fun. we waited and waited for our van 1 to finish their first legs and we were getting anxious and bored. i just wanted to get going! but at about 8 kayla took off running, then passed the baton to me (i ran 3.4 miles my first leg) then i passed the baton to my brother brad. we got through our first legs and stopped at exchange 18 to try and get a little sleep. it was FREEZING and we only had a few hours so it was a little miserable. when we woke up at 4 in the morning we were all a little grumpy i think. kayla took off running once again and i tried to wake myself up while she was on her run. my second leg i ran 7.3 miles. our last runner in our van was really in a lot of pain with his knees, so at the very beginning of his second leg he decided he couldn't run his third leg. so we split up his leg and tried to decide what to do for his third leg. it was 7.2 miles and very hard... our team captain (brian) called his mom who was volunteering and asked her if she could run an easy 4 mile leg for us and she agreed. kayla was supposed to run that one so she said she would run a 7.3 mile run that was pretty much all downhill. and i took the place of the last run. well as soon as kayla started running her knee started acting up, so she had to stop after a mile and a half. brad said he would run the rest but after another mile and a half he was super tired since it was his fourth run. i was very nervous about my 7.2 mile run so brian said he would run that one if i ran the rest of kayla's leg. so i did, it was 4 miles and there was only one large uphill and the rest was down. brian took over the last leg and he did awesome. i cant believe how well he did after running the HARDEST leg of the whole entire ragnar, and then adding a long fourth leg. i was so appreciative of him. after 30 hours team ventus finally crossed the finish line!
it definitely was tough, and i think it helped me push myself harder then i normally would but it was worth it. crossing that finish line with the team just made me feel so accomplished! ragnar is such a hard race and we finished it. i'm so proud of my whole team. i had a blast hanging out with our van all the time and cheering on all the runners. i cant wait for the next ragnar in vegas!
